Travel tip - Extended weather forecast

How do we get from SN to Chiang Mai
3 adults 2 kids...
Planned on VIP bus but am told it goes to Chiang Rai not Chiang Mai.

Best route through Udon.
From Udon it's a 12 hour journey on the overnight.

    So much for the train to Chiang Mai!!
    Tickets went on sale 5 days ago (9/2/11) ALL TRAINS SOLD OUT for 10th April !!

    Anyone know a reputable car hire in Sakhon that does one way hire ? (flying on from Chiang mai)
