Football Fever AHEAD

Thailand is 10 hours ahead of Brazil.

Games are available on
  • CTH Satellite Service
  • 365sport tv available on Windows, MAC, iPad, iPhone, Android & mobile devices
22 of the games are to be broadcast on public channels in Thailand.
None of the satellite services seem to have an online schedule of channel and time. No indication if any games will be rebroadcast at a more convenient local time.

Noteworthy is that most games occur during curfew hours in Thailand.
During the period beginning June 13, expect Thai football fanatics to be sleepwalking in their daily routine.

They're Back

Road paving on the dead end street where I live was done in March of last year.  But the street getting there was left unfinished until now.
Sewer pipes were brought in yesterday and the digging has started.

They are laying the sewer down the middle of the road.  Traffic in and out today should prove interesting.  Guess I can go the long way around .
I'd say laying pipe the length of the entire road will take close to a week.  After that the paving should be a bit quicker.

Meanwhile, any rainstorm is going to make the road into a dirt bike track.

Thailand Inflation Hits 14-Month High - WSJ.com

Back in 2003 you could go to one of the local 'all you can eat restaurants' where they advertised 59 B prices.
These days it's around 139 B (or more).  The biggest increase in cost of living occured when minimum wage was doubled a few years ago

Silly Tourist

Dazed and confused-
Swedish tourist loses hotel,
saved by police volunteers .phuketgazette

Oh for god's sake if you're in a hotel and want to take a walking tour, ask for a business card of the hotel, and maybe even a map.

I have to apologize, but reading of the man's plight made me giggle.

Leaving the hotel without sufficient pocket money, well I have done that too, but purely accidentally.

A standing ovation to:

  1. "Local residents chipped in ..."
  2. Tourist police to the rescue.

OK so I really should not giggle.  My first day in Sakon Nakhon I left my friends at a restaurant and went on a walking tour.  I got lost for about an hour, but did finally find my way back to the restaurant.  Friends weren't worried that I was lost.  Apparently I walked past the restaurant seven times.
