Sakon Nakhon Children Days past

In Thailand Children Day is celebrated on the second Saturday in January
Sat, January 12, 2013
  • One year I was asked to purchase fruit drinks, milk, cookies, candies, and a few toys.
Think the entire bill came to one or two thousand ฿
We spent a few hours at the government hospital children ward.
It's somewhat of a feel good memory. Kids and their parents with grateful smiles.

  • Another year  Thai friends invited me along to a poor village school, where all kids received a hot meal, and cookies and ice cream.

  • Another year it was a neighborhood celebration.
By the time I arrived, the kids had already indulged in free candy. You could tell they were getting a bit hyper.

Presents included a 20 Baht note. Some kids lined up for seconds

Then it was on with the show

After the show I went to visit the older kids, admiring a new toy

Just like mothers day or fathers day, kids (and kids at heart) look forward to being pampered that day.
