Bank letter requirement is back !! Update !!

I always appreciate when readers bring errors to my attention.

The bank letter requirement is a preliminary document. It has not as of yet been published. It is expected to be published after further review and possible tweaking.

Laws passed by the government generally come into force after publication in the  Royal Thai Government Gazette

There is however a police order  published 26 December on which this information is based

🎰 Locally a bank letter  was required during the early years of Sakon Nakhon Immigration. Copies of previous year's bankbooks were also required. This was in addition to the embassy letter.

To me it appears to be a less costly process. The embassy certification always required travel.  Sometimes it also involved accommodation and other expenses.

Past experience the bank documentation cost was 200 baht.
Evidence of a pension. Letter of certification from a Thai bank supported by bank statements showing a pension being transferred to the pensioner’s bank account every month for at least 12 months.
At this time there is no mention of insurance requirements. "waiting for the other shoe to drop."
