Eostra, the goddess of spring and fertility

Before Christianity rolled into town, folk had other gods, goddesses and deities.
All those celebrations were cancelled and replaced with christian festivals.
At times they did leave some clues behind as to the origins of the celebrations

Eostre, the goddess of spring and fertility is one of those.
Pagan legend tells us that Eostre was reincarnated as a rabbit in early spring, after rescuing a dying bird

Christian Easter is the celebration of Jesus rising to the heavens.

Apparently the rabbit stayed behind to deliver the eggs.  The egg being the symbol of fertility.

Fan Failure

Heard a loud pop outside around 8 am, and then the electricity went out.
It was out for about half an hour. Tearing myself away from the computer, I jumped into the pool.

When the power goes off the alternative for keeping cool is the pool.

Keeping Cool and Healthy on a Hot Day

Just read an article of the 50th healthiest foods.

Fruits made the head of the list.

Quickly deseeded half a yellow watermelon, added a bag of frozen raspberries, a quarter cup of honey and a few bananas.

Five shots of vodka as a preservative (can't smell it in this mixture).

A few shots of Amaretto. for additional flavor.

I suppose I could have done without the preservative vodka.  It's not going to last that long.
