Someone from the Thai Meteorological department made a statement that people should not trust social media for weather forecasts. There is some truth to that, but then again, their forecasts aren't that accurate at times either
The recent 'severe weather alert' for Sakon Nakhon was, to put it mildly, a bit off.
Any weather forecast should be considered an educated guess, forecasting is not an exact science.
Weather patterns can change quickly and without notice. I've seen it too often: violent storms heading in our direction, then at the last moment veering off, avoiding us completely. The opposite can also happen, a storm not expected to reach us can change it's travel plans at a minutes notice and create havoc.
When it comes to weather forecasts I check a second (or more) opinion.
Of the sources I checked today, some say afternoon showers, some say cloudy, some say 20% chance of rain.
My conclusion, scattered thundershowers likely in the afternoon and evening. Some areas will see rain, others will not.

Unwanted 3 a.m. UDON wakeup call
Lets just say I'm not a happy camper. Had the wrong room in the hotel.
At 3 am they started a metal saw next door at the 7-11. They build a chicken sales stand and operated the saw for close to an hour.
Had troubles getting back to sleep after the noise ended and now have a severe backache. And I didn't bring any pain medicine.
I wonder if I can keep a smile on my face for the rest of the day. It's going to be a challenge.
Next time I stay in this hotel, it won't be a room facing 7-11 or the morning market, which gets busy at 5 am.
