Recently spent a few days in Chaiyaphum to watch a football game and do some sightseeing.

Since posting pictures about the trip on Facebook  I've been bombarded with daily ads from TripAdvisor. Lost interest in that site because it's easily manipulated. Many comments by friends and foes. 

 

I've even seen comments from two different businesses combined into one. The place had been opened six months, but had recommendations dating back YEARS.  🍏🍎

Some tracking I don't mind. Searched webpages to buy a new notebook. Been getting all sorts of ads which have been helpful in finding the best deal.

One way to minimize tracking is to dump cookies and histories FREQUENTLY. Some browsers advertise tracking blocking, I'm using one of those

replacing most Facebook videos with links to You Tube

Facebook has turned off the sound to a large quantity of my videos.

 

It's a computer generated claim that it's a copyright violation.

Music I am using is provided by a reputable on-line service. 

A few videos appear to have been permanently removed under the pretense of encountering a problem.

All of my videos are uncensored on You Tube.

200531 My May timeline

Since I've shown friends how their phone is tracking them, many have turned off the feature.

I've left it on. For nearby shopping I don't bother taking my mobile phone for a ride.

Been following government 'recommendations' and stayed mostly at home.
To tell the truth, it was just too damn hot to be outdoors. Feels like I'm driving my motorcycle through an oven. 

Tracking also adds any photos I may have taken with my mobile.  Tracking does allow you to make modification or delete one or multiple items

Every 'mobile device' picture you take is most likely saved for you on the net

If you snap pictures with your mobile device, your pictures and videos may automatically be saved to the web. Depends on your settings.

Possible difference may be quality.  Also depends on your settings. Then you may want to consider manual transfer to you computer
  
Below: some pictures I took yesterday.  Have to delete them on the phone then delete duplicates on the net.  Don't have to bother with transfer.  

The first pictures looking into the water pot. For some reason ants mistake it as their swimming hole till I turn on the heat to make coffee. I'll keep one picture, delete 3.

Cooked elbows in the rice cooker. Freeze them in meal portions.  Do the same with rice, stew, etc.

The last picture six facemasks I bought late January 6 each for ฿20 
(averages out to 10 cents each)

Tuesday I took some temperature photos.  Usually do multiple and save the best

Google maps generally records my mobile device whereabouts. Frequently I travel without it. When I do want a record I carry it with me

Monitor your electronic trail

Everyone is aware these days of internet pirates, and hackers intending on stealing your information and even your money.

There's protection you can buy.  
Some is even free, but there's a hidden fee: 

• free & fee software has access to all your data.

Then there's free social media.  They too have access to your data and profit from it.

Every application you have on any device connected to the internet collects your data.  Supposedly it helps them to improve their service to you.

In the case of chinese applications any data they collect must be made available to the Chinese government upon request.

I recently checked out google 'DRIVE.' I was surprised and a little shocked at some of the things saved there. Much deserved to be deleted🗑

There were also some memories from friends and comic pdf files, hundreds of photos I did not know I had

Location settings follow you

Don't carry my mobile phone regularly.  It's obvious from my timeline on Google maps.  Carried it today and my timeline reflects when I started this trip, how long I traveled and how many kilometers I drove

Where were you last Sunday afternoon

Opened Google Maps and checked the "my places - visited" feature. It has a list of all my daily travels, in many cases with pictures.  
If you have the feature activated, your mobile phone geotags every photo you take with your mobile. 
Sunday I was near the Mekong river, but I had no idea how close till I saw the map

Your mobile keeps track of all the places it's been, so if you are going someplace you don't want people to know, turn off you mobile, better yet, leave it at home.

I ventured out after the heavy rains subsided after 2 pm, Friday afternoon. Water was draining off to lower terrain. The road water level was subsiding noticeably  Expect a short breather with plenty more rain on the way There's plenty isolated flooding photography shared on Facebook.  Mixed with it are lots of one year anniversary pictures from the 2017 flood. It's difficult to discern if it's current or not in many cases. At Tao Ngoi 27 km south of Sakon City, Friday Sakon City pumping to avert flooding, Friday I did not attend this year's parade, no sense to get my camera wet More social media loses

Used to be. When I wanted to see the news, I'd turn to the news channels at the top of the hour and I got the news.   Not anymore.  It's all talk shows on all the major news networks. Al Jazeera is probably the best at presenting the news.  RT presentations at times are informative, but their propaganda is all too obvious. The 15 minute  Reuters NOW  with sidebar index of articles is my favorite.

Download Music and Video

I get most of my music from Youtube, either on line or download. Online downloaders frequently send you to an advertisement page.  I stopped using online downloader webpages. I've been quite happy with  MediaHuman Products to download movies or MP3.  The movie downloader allows 20 free downloads before you are requested to pay THB 666.82. There are the occasional power outages during the rainy season in Thailand. If you have a fully charged laptop you can watch a few downloaded movies during those times . The MP3 converter seems to have no financial requirements.
