Keep ants and roaches at bay with talc powder, mosquitoes with smoke. 

Some crawly things the birds take care of.

Spiders and frogs are beneficial outdoors, I prefer not to have them as roommates.

Also prefer to keep neighbors pets at a distance. Most are not well maintained and may carry a large array of unwanted bugs
