Instead of copying a photo, then loading the ocr web page to extract the text, then translate the text, I'm using translator on my iPhone. It translates text in pictures and comes in very handy when looking at a Thai menu.  

Then of course you have to understand 'TINGLISH.' 

In this case 'cook the traffic surface.'

Even though the photo indicates a main road, the text seems to indicate the walking streets around the main temple. High time for that road, been bumpy since they dug up the roads for underground wiring, also seems like till pending.

New life at the old rice mill

Part of the rice mill property, which had seen little use since the fire of 2008 is in the process of being cleared. 

I had predicted in 2013 that the property "will eventually morph into additional shopping or housing."

Restaurant destroyed by fire

A local outdoor restaurant was destroyed by fire Tuesday morning at around 10:30. 

A friend sent me the video clip as it was happening.  

I had visited the restaurant on the previous two Sundays with friends.

The restaurant is located at Khu Muang Rd, almost across the street from the '@ Sakon Hotel.'

The Fine Arts Department has begun excavating a 1000+ year old Khmer bridge in the old city of Nong Han Luang

Heavy tropical rains on May 31 caused local flooding

The rain was heavy, but not unusual.  

Most likely the matter will be investigated and appropriate repairs initiated.

The day had started with weather arriving from the east. Weather direction changed in the afternoon almost unnoticeable. The heavy tropical rain arrived from a southwesterly direction.

Isaan Riders, a private facebook group, has a very successful second Sakon Nakhon Meeting

I was invited to come and photograph a get together of big bikers.

Had not heard of the group before. In fact I discovered the group name after a few members arrived.

After two beers I did a headcount, came up with 56. 

Did a recount a few minutes later and arrived at 64. There was enough moving around which may have hindered a more accurate count.

Beside traveling   and touring together, the group is also involved in local charity activities.

The accident most likely was caused by human error. 

No one was injured.
