VIP treatment
M recently delivered three envelopes from SBAC.
Two contained passes to the parade grandstands

A third envelope contained an apparent form letter.
Obviously composed by a Thai English Teacher,
I call it Tinglish, a bit difficult to read English.
The basic jest of the letter, 200 students from S-BAC will participate in the parade.
Not until I re-read the letter three days later did I notice that it was an invite for financial support.
Sorry folks, with less than ten day notice I can only come up with Bt 4,000.
If I would have gotten more advance notice I could have donated more. Fixed income here.
Parade participation isn't cheap:
Costume rentals, transportation, food and drink, decorations, make-up....
Makes you appreciate this festival even more knowing that it's all done with donations.

PPS files are notorious for hidden viruses
I read that somewhere on the internet a while back.
My computer was acting up.
Files disappeared from my open windows and strangely reappeared.
Checked my drives with Norton, and sure enough:
Virus detected, hidden in a PPS file I had recently received in e-mail.
Unlike most graphics files PPS (power point slideshow) contains script,
a perfect place to hide viruses, worms and the like,
Your mail-server can not guarantee 100% accuracy in scanning your attachments.
Some mail servers (gmail) now allow you to view the slideshow content online without downloading the file.

It's a dogs life
I bought a powerful floor fan.
It stands to reason, the air on the tiled floor is cooler than at the ceiling.
I aimed it at my desk, not just to help keep me cool, but also to keep flying insects away.
At least that was my intent.
Things don't always work out the way you want them to.
Someone else decided there's a better use for the floor fan.
