Jack Hammer Walz

They started jackhammering one day before the heavy rains, July 28,
had to quit within an hour because the rains had started

After the road dries, with a few execptions, the Jack Hammer walz begins shortly before 9 am.  Last a few hours each day. The rest of the day the quiet crew does the digging and plumbing.

They are laying a three inch water main for new construction.
Its mostly dirt road from here on.  Think this two week walz is at an end. NOT . They are now digging a similar trench on the other side of the street.

They were keeping an eye on me

Three black dots on saffron yellow cotton worn as an armband was devised in Germany during WWII, to identify blind civilians.
It is still somewhat in use today.
Such identification limits the wearer from any liability caused by an accident.

I decided to use the symbol to show my extreme displeasure with the football referee.

I has asked for a translation of the word 'Blind'
The translation I received "Eye Blind"

Sakon FC vs Ubon FC

Very Agressive Game,

and a few misbehaving fans

Ubon Fans arrived on five buses.

Sakon Nakhon fans had to move over in their stadium seats to maker room.
Even four camera men had to vacate their positions to make room for dignitaries.

Plenty of time for some pregame posing

From the start, the game was fast paced and both teams played very agressive.

The big surprise came 11 minutes into the game with a goal by Sakon Nakhon FC.
Ubon is number two in the league, sakon Nakhon is number 10.

Unfortunately the goal also resulted in the first major injury of the day.
The Sakon team captain had to leave the game with a serious knee injury.
There were numerous injuries, an indication how aggressive the game was.

The injuries

Thirty minutes into the game the first confrontation was not a serious one and the game resumed quickly

Ubon evened the score shortly into the second half.
Moments later a second confrontation, this time with a bit of pushing and shoving.

With only minutes to play, another nasty collision.  The arguement on the field seemed to have been quickly quelled.  This time it was the fans who became angry.  Sakon Nakhon fans verbalized their displeasure.

I displayed my "Blind card," to which Sakon fans cheered.
A policeman positioned himself next to me, as if he was expecting trouble from me.  He left my side when I started snapping pictures.

Ubon fans on the other hand were more agressive, they threw water and beer at the referees as they left the field.  Just liquid, no bottles or cans.
The referee really did make a few very bad calls.

I have to say:
"The Sakon Nakhon Police kept cool heads and did an outstanding job of keeping the situation from escalating."
