I may have tasted a less expensive version, I may not have tasted it.  I never ordered it.  But I have been given countless unnamed Thai foods, it's most likely is among that list.

It's the straw nest and the birds spit used as a binding agent.  Bird spit soup with additives.

Chinese consider it a delicacy  with medical benefits believed to enhance one's libido, strengthen the immune system, aid digestion.
