Special Female and children carriages began operating on trains effective Aug. 1., in response to public furor over an alleged rape and murder on a train.  The new carriage service was to ensure the safety and convenience of female and child passengers.
Obviously safety and security on public transportation needs to be re-evaluated.

Meanwhile purchase of open food and drink containers should be avoided on overnight trains and buses

Longan Harvest Season

Longan harvest season is August and September. 

Generally prices tend to drop during harvest season, apparently even more-so this year due to an expected increased harvest.
