One of the biggest failures of Thai tourism continues to be the timely dissemination of information concerning public events. Tourists, especially foreigners, generally plan their itinerary weeks and months in advance. Most public events reoccur every year and are planned months in advance. Many events are not publicized until days before they are to take place.
One way to improve Thai tourism is to provide more options than the obvious major festivals in major tourist destinations.
I have frequently stumbled upon public festivals and celebrations purely by accident and not by advance notice.
