Rice "...supply outstripping demand..."

In a number of Asian countries, in recent years, many tracts of land where cleared for rice growing.
More countries joined the rice export market.
Farmers who want to survive should really consider an alternate money making crop.
Olives and avocados come to my mind. Imported avocados go for 60 baht (US$2) EACH.

Rubber farmers are also facing an oversupply situation for similar reason:  many tracts of land where cleared and turned into rubber farms, more countries joined the rubber export market
