Drought Declarations begin,

more to come

Agency told to help people in drought-hit zones - The Nation
4 districts in Sakon Nakhon Province affected by drought

Two years ago, November 2012 headlines read worst drought in 50 years.  That year the river in Tao Ngoi was running on empty.

Happens every year,  the dry season begins in October and lasts through the cold season.  This year the area received less rain than normal, with most of the dams below capacity.

Nong Hahn (lake) looks fairly normal for this time of year, but there's been a big increase in population. Will be interesting to see the water levels come January February.  Maybe 2015 will be the year that we can see the submerged artifacts.

The odds of  February through March rains are 50-50.  Warming Oceans are making it harder to predict El Nino, La Nina events which influence our weather
