Consider the source (͡ ͡° ͜ つ ͡͡°)

  Commercial media, radio, tv.  They bring you the news for profit.  Then there are government restrictions, religious morals.  Let's not forget propaganda, also known as political re-education; gosip falls in this category.
Once you have an image how the news is presented to you, truth or fiction ... travel with me to the distant past.  On the way a quick stop at medieval days.  "hear ye, hear ye," the town cryer would proclaim, ringing his bell. Before the printing press, when books were hand copied, one at a time.
This trip ends at the all time bestseller, most printed and distributed book: the bible. 
The article below is a "believe it or not" story.   
I'm not convinced, but it adds to the intrigue.
