Phu Phan Cup
In a game yesterday, Sakon F.C. against Udon Thani F.C., the score was tied.
Sakon won that game in a kick off.

Sakon F.C. did not fare as well in today's match against Sisaket F.C., loosing  2 - 4.
It was Sakon's first loss. This game was intense.
Early in the game Sisaket players confronted the referee about his call, and made him do some fast backward steps.
Moments later Sakon players were equally perturbed about another call which they thought should have been a goal, but was called off sides.
Before halftime half a dozen men in brown were on the scene.

THE NEW AND IMPROVED (???) Sakon FC

The Phu Phan Cup is being played in two venues.  At least that's how it's been explained to me.
One venue is the University football field.  Who played there, and when, who won, no one here seems to be able to give me an answer.

13:50
I can attest to what went on at the Muang Sakon Municipal Stadium. That's the stadium a two minute drive from my house.

When I arrived Buriram was kicking Mukdahan's butt.  That was to expected,  Buriram finished the recent season as number two of 16 in Division 2.
Mukdahan made a valiant effort.  You know the old saying "but no cigar."

14:45
14:46
14:49
And then, with a somewhat late start Nakhon Phanom FC and
THE NEW AND IMPROVED (???) Sakon FC made it onto the field.

All new players, all new coaches, I didn't recognize a one.  The shape of the uniforms turned me off immediately.  Looks like the shirt tails of a dress shirt that should be tucked in. Sloppy.
Recently saw the new Thailand FC uniforms, they look like sailor uniforms, now that is cute.

The game began at 15:15.
The first score is embedded into my permanent memory.
Some neighborhood friends had just arrived and sat next to me.
Joey was among them, he blew that damn horn of his. Simultaneously Sakon FC scored.

After that I had no abjections regarding him blowing that @#!$%* horn

13:50
16:50
16:38
Even though the new Sakon FC did win it's first game, it seems a bit early to say they are improved.
If anyone deserves accolades, its the dozen or so pink velvet cheering team.  12 through 15 year old boys... er.. ahem.. lady boys.  They din't stay long, but they had everyone laughing with them.

Then again who in the heck want's to advertise that you came from this place.

Who'se playing tomorrow. No one around here can give me the answer.
I notice the Sakon Nakhon Sports and Tourism building has been sitting empty for the past six months.
No help there.

"Industrially-Made Faggots"

.
I'm teaching English again.
The first discussion I had with my students was the difference between British English and American English.
Everyone seemed to understand the difference between the British and the American "Boot."
Car Boot Sale vs. flea market or swap meet.

I decided to do a bit of research on the subject.
WIKIPEDIA has a list of British words not widely used in the U.S.
Reading through the list provoked a lot of giggles and outright laughter.

Then I read through these two lists"
List of words having different meanings in British and American English: A–L
List of words having different meanings in British and American English: M–Z

Faggots, gravy, mashed potatoes and marrowfat processed peas
Always knew Brits call a cigarette a fag, while it's a a slur in America.  No surprise there.

But I was rolling on the floor with laughter when I read that the word faggot in Britain refers to a kind of meatball, while Industrially- made faggots refers to frozen food.

Brits might not see any humor in the Queen's English, but I sure do.

I won't even try to put this into a lesson plan
