Strong monsoon trough lies across upper Northeastern Thailand

Mozzie High Season in Thailand

The headlines read:  "Sharp rise in dengue fever (in Thailand)."
A couple of my Thai friends have it.  One is hospitalized.

There are variations to the trap
pictured in the video.
Tape instead of string facilitates easier cleaning.
I recommend adding sugar to extend
the life of the yeast.

It's the carbon dioxide produced during fermentation that's so enticing to mosquitos.

The trap really works.
That's the overnight collection
at my house.

Mosquitoes use their sense of smell to hunt after their prey.

Feet and ankles are a favorite.
Sweaty feet produce carbon dioxide. That cheesy smell is the attractant.
Wash your feet, apply repellant to exposed legs and ankles.
A diet of lot's of garlic and onions does not give you immunity. That's a myth.
If you've just eaten garlic, you wont be bothered by mosquitoes as long as you smell like an Italian salad,  they'll be back as soon as the smell has dissipated.

Breath and sweat produce carbon dioxide CO2.

Standing water in the kitchen and bathroom are another mosquito favorite.
In the kitchen dish soap works for me.
Those blue cleaning tablets seem to work great in the toilet.
Dark places, dark clothing become resting and hiding places.
I sleep under an overhead fan.  Mosquitos can't navigate too well in wind.

The Sakon Beast dies on the road

The Sakon FC beast died on it's way to Yasothon last week.  Players and staff made it to the game on time hitching rides. Anton offered five players a ride back to Sakon Nakhon.
Wonder if anyone from owners and staff noticed.  A thank you should be in order.

Sakon FC next hosts Chaiyaphum, June 15
It will be interesting to see if the beast will be revived by June 23 when Sakon FC travels to Nongbualamphu

Global warming? What global warming?

Sakon FC wins at Yasothon 2-1

Detoured by way of Mukdahan
Plenty of vendors at the waterfront shopping area, hardly any shoppers.

The side trip through Mukdahan was quite disappointing.

Hoped to buy some bread rolls, came away empty handed.

Arriving in Yasothon we lucked out in finding an excellent eatery:
Steak Yasothon.
Food was great, the place was very clean. Seems to be visited by local expats in the area.

After lunch we headed to the football stadium.
Our luck had apparently 'gone south.'

Start time had again been changed from 5 pm to 4 pm.
When we arrived the game was well under way.
Only enjoyable part of our arrival were some loud cheers...
Sakon Nakhon had just scored

4:37 PM
Moments before halftime Yasothon evened the score

4:44 pm

The lectures during half time seemed to have had the desired effect.

Bang Fai Celebrations in the distance added to the victory celebrations

That the Schafer's contract was terminated was no surprise.  Rumors of termination and denials have been flying around for quite a long time.  There was some improvement in the Thailand team, just not enough and not fast enough.
Personally consider premier league teams Muangthong United and Buriram United as better teams than the Thai national team.  My opinion it's not the coaching, rather it's the management that needs replacing

Number one on this list is a real surprise to me,  considering it's been one of my recent favorites.
Soft drinks and cookies were the only non surprises on this list

White rice can be stored for 7 to 8 years at 70F (21C).  Shelf life is affected by temperature and humidity
Shelf live is halved for every 1% increase in moisture according to the knowledgebank.
Selling Thai rice at above market prices makes it a hard sell

New mall's are going up all over.
Let's not forget the housing boom
