Sakon Nakhon Wax Candle Parade

I did not attend the parade because I don't feel 100% quite yet after three recent illnesses.
From the looks of the video, it's a copy from previous years.

Sakon F.C. vs Roi Et F.C. rained out

The game was stopped less than five minutes into the action due to imminent heavy rain.
Considering the all day rains, with a few short-lived breaks, and the condition of the field, this game should never have been started.

This wasn't football, this was water sport.

I had been checking the hourly forecasts at accuweather
I strongly suspected this game was a no go early in the day.
Fact is, if you see any prolonged sunshine before Thursday, sound the alarm.
If you plan on watching the parade Sunday (starts 4 PM) bring rain gear.
Long before the game even started it was obvious that heavy rains were imminent.
I suspect the reason behind the attempted game was the distance Roi Et team and fans had traveled to get here. A three to four hour bus ride.
The Roi Et team had arrived in Sakon Nakhon on Friday afternoon.

Game has been rescheduled for July 31
Admissions is free if you tell them you were at todays game

Sakon Nakhon FC deserters

The coach of Sakon F.C. left the team after last weekend's game for Surin.
New information now indicates that he took with him three Sakon Nakhon F.C. players.
Most likely, there continues to be management and possible financial difficulties for Sakon F.C.
It's going to be interesting to see how the team will fare later today with three replacements.

Yes it is, No it isn't, Yes it is!!!

Just last month The Nation news media reported
The problem being reported was that Thai rice may be contaminated through over fumigation.
Bangkok Post reported almost immediately that Thai government officials claimed the report was not true.

This story hasn't ended,
is there cause for great concern
Acute illness produced by exposure to fumigants produces symptoms resembling those associated with common upper respiratory and / or gastrointestinal illnesses.

This makes me reassess my recent week-long  gastrointestinal illness.  Thought it was caused by shrimp in fried rice, or even caviar.  Think I'll purchase my rice from a local farmer for a while.

March 24, 2012 Roi Et 7, Sakon 1
July 22, 2012 Roi Et 4, Sakon 1
June 27, 2011 Roi Et 3, Sakon 1
May 30, 2010 Roi Et 2, Sakon 1
August 21, 2010 Roi Et 3, Sakon 0

It's my understanding that the Roi Et team will again furnish a bus for their fans, at a cost of 150 baht per fan.

Win or loose, these games (Sakon vs Roi Et) are always intense and exciting. Worth seeing
