Sakon FC vs Mukdahan FC

Fight for the Bottom

Start of the game was delayed by close to half an hour.
At the start of the game there were more Sakon FC fans than Mukdahan fans.
Mukdahan fans sure were a lot more vocal, loud enough you'd think it was a sold out game.

It was a see-saw type of a game. Both teams seemed equal for most of the first half.

Sakon Nakhon scored first.
After Mukdahan evened the score it was very obvious that the tide had turned.

Both teams have had only one win, two draws, and seven losses.  The only factor that Mukdahan  stays at the bottom is the number of goals allowed.
Mukdahan 32, Sakon Nakhon 28
  • Sakon FC Next hosts Kalasin FC, seventh in the league.
  • The following week Sakon Plays at Loei FC, third in the league.
  • During the final game of the first half of the season Sakon FC hosts Nakhon Phanom FC, fifth in the league.

Rules enforced in league football really stifle team spirit.
Fans are not allowed to use megaphones, musical instruments, excluding drums.

Obviously the team is in a serious situation.

Do I need a reminder at a Football Game

Soccer Jersey worn by Thai Teen

At first I thought it to be real INAPPROPRIATE (ไม่เหมาะสม)
because it made me think of things like this

On second thought that's old generation morality.
Durex is sponsoring teen football in Thailand, very appropriate.  It will make some people blush

Visa Runners:

Three Times and you're stranded

The law has been around for years, you can only get three extensions on travel visas.

Apparently it hasn't been enforced uniformly.

A recent crackdown along the Cambodia border has now been expanded to all border crossings

Sakon FC minus 7

Seven players who have failed to show up for practice have been dismissed from the team.
No list of names has been released. One would  hope that none are first stringers.

I see Sunday's game in Mukdahan  as a competition for last place.

Reader inquiry: "I thought

Thailand never had any earth quakes"

I recommend a  Bangkok Post article published May 6, 2014, with a graphic map of
Sakon Nakhon Province seems to be split according to a  Chulalongkorn University map

North: moderate (4 Mercalli-intensity)
South: Slight  (3 Mercalli intensity)

Thailand's most dangerous fault lines are in the north and west, mostly along the Myanmar and Laos  borders.
Prior to this months earthquake there have been frequent minor tremors.

A earthquake of greater intensity than this month was in 2011
