Vigilance recommended for all travel within Europe

Seal with white background

The State Department alerts U.S. citizens to potential risks
of travel to and throughout Europe following several terrorist
attacks, including the March 22 attacks in Brussels claimed by
ISIL.  Terrorist groups continue to plan near-term attacks
throughout Europe, targeting sporting events, tourist sites,
restaurants, and transportation.  This Travel Alert expires on
June 20, 2016.
U.S. citizens should exercise vigilance when in public
places or using mass transportation.  Be aware of immediate
surroundings and avoid crowded places.  Exercise particular
caution during religious holidays and at large festivals and
events.
      U. S. citizens should also:
      - Follow the instructions of local authorities, especially in an
emergency.
      - Monitor media and local information sources and factor updated
information into personal travel plans and activities.
      - Be prepared for additional security screening and unexpected
disruptions.
      - Stay in touch with your family members and ensure they know
how to reach you in the event of an emergency.
      - Register in our Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP.

US citizen absentee voting

Voting laws changed in 2014. All U.S. citizens outside the United States who want to vote by absentee ballot must complete a new Federal Postcard Application (FPCA) every year if they wish to vote from abroad. You will no longer automatically receive ballots based on a previous absentee ballot request.

Do not wear x-ray clothing during songkran

Of course there is that Thai law making wearing underwear mandatory when leaving your home.
White x-ray clothing refers to white cotton garments. They have a tendency to become 'see through' when wet.  Unless you are an exhibitionist, standing naked in public can be mighty embarrassing and can result in some sort of police intervention.

With all this talk of water shortages, expect some official guidelines /  restrictions to the water throwing.
A nationwide ban is unlikely as the event is a major money maker for tax coffers.

It's also a period of increased alcohol consumption and police checkpoints

Improved Sakon FC Season in forecast

From a historic perspective, I wasn't expecting a Sakon Nakhon win at Udon

Udon has a better team with better financial support and a much greater home game attendance. The stadium was packed. 85% capacity is my estimate of yesterday's game.
Sakon Nakhon didn't win or score but they sure made it s very exciting game. What's missing from the final score 4 - 0 is the number of attempted goals the team was able to foil.  Offense had plenty of close calls, but 'no cigar.'

Sakon FC will experience more losses this season, but most likely will end the 2016 season with higher division standings than in many past years. Sakon Nakhon already had three wins earlier this year before the season was cancelled and then freshly restarted
