What is the most visited country in the world? The answer to that question by the above linked trivia website is France. The article brings out a point (this article's headline) which is true in all tourism. My Own Experience Crossed into Mexico from San Diego for a day trip, ate at a wallmart. Did a bit of tourist area window shopping and returned to the US, having spent little. Frequently visited Vancouver, Canada from Washington State on four day weekends. Spent quite a bit more on lodging, drinking and dining, entertainment. Frequent trips to Thailand last decade 1990's to 2002. Always at least a month long. Budgeted a minimum of $150 per day.

It's that time of the year again
Kritters of all kinds, pets, farm animals ... are warming themselves in the warm sun on cement pavement. Cement absorbs the heat from the sun. Dogs in the streets is quite common anywhere in Thailand. These days they are lying on the warm pavement, expecting drivers to 'go around.' Animals in the streets become a traffic problem mostly in rural areas. Not always. |

Royal Longboat Races now underway
The Royal Longboat races generally held in conjunction with the Wax Castle Festival, are being held today and tomorrow Nov 2 + 3. The races had been postponed due to nationwide mourning. The trophy races will be held November 3. The Loi Krathong celebrations begin at dusk at the lake. I have been told that the parade which customarily delivers the royal Krathongs to the lake will be held around 6 pm. |
