It may be oldest tree in Isaan ?

.
By Mr Martin

Possibly the oldest tree in Isaan is this 300 year old Rubber tree located in Ban Dong Luang.
Cared for by monks of the local temple. A gold band is wrapped around the base, designating it sacred and to stop anyone from cutting it down.

300 year old rubber tree, that's amazing! I didn't know that they lived that long. I thought the Sak Thong (golden teak) was the longest living tree in Thailand.

I recently learnt that the rubber's tree origin could have been from S.America (Brazil), or it could also have been Mexico or Central America. In Mexico, the ancient civilization, the Olmecs (1400BC), cultivated rubber trees and used the rubber to make the ball which they used for their famous balls games which eventually evolved to be a sacraficial ceremony.
