SakonNakhon Beef Fest

For a moment I wasn't sure where I was.

American Indians...

Is that the Marlboro Man?

Definetly doesn't remind me of any Thai cattle farmer.

Here's some SakonNakhon beef reality

What the hell is this all about? I thought Thailand was a Buddhist country where people at least TRY to refrain from killing cattle much less advertising the fact and making a spectacle of it! Do the monks join in the bloodletting? I would love to know.

Buddhists are not forbidden to eat Beef.
Buddha died after eating sukara-maddava, which has been described as soft pork parts.

Monks are forbidden to eat certain meats.

Slaughtering is done in a civilized manner and involves no rituals
