The prices had already been in effect for a while ...


The matter made a reappearance in the headlines, when locals complained that they were losing money. "less paying customers."
Some of these at one time pristine islands and parks have been overrun with tourist, creating a daylong rush hour traffic. Pristine areas are getting trampled and trashed.  It's all a result of mass tourism.   
There's also insufficient infrastructure. Where there's trash, there have to be trash cans.
There are some parks which are not on my wish list. If I'm going to pay a higher price, then I just want to make sure it's worth it.
