Scenery on a budget

Have to buy some more foam.  Holding off till the additional tracks arrive.   

The stack of tape gave me an idea for the bridge supports.  The foam bridge will be replaced, for now it's for design. 

Also collecting cardboard to print out buildings.  Tried my hand with a toothpick fence.  Think I'll consult a local bamboo weaver. Also experimenting with paints and cements.

The scouring pad green is a bit too dark, I'll need a brighter green

Recent daily weather alert updates by TMD had been issued at 11 am.  Today's update was  issued at 5 am.  The alert is quite general "...  isolated heavy rain. There remains heavy rain much of the Northeast."    What was a tropical storm (Pakhar) yesterday is now recognized as a mere "active low pressure cell."    Heavy rain is still in the forecast for Tuesday.  If the recent pattern is any indication, much of that rain will move north and south of the city (hoping). After that just thunder in the distance.  Cool enough to turn off the aircon, and even a slight chill in front of two  fans. Updating the local tourist events calendar is difficult.  Local events promotions are usually only advertised days before they occur.  Many times it's simply a poster on some street corner or a street banner. Thai Meteorological Department daily updates 11 AM when warnings are given  alert dated 11 am, 25 August ↴ "... "Storm “PAKHAR” ...  It is forecast to cover upper Vietnam during 27-28 August, causing isolated heavy rain in the North and the Northeast. People should beware of flash flood and follow closely the weather advisory."  Arrows indicate next five days (wunderground).  For the moment local weather is arriving from North Northeast.

American Labor Day 15 years ago

Officially retired from work on August 1, 2002, three months before I turned 58, after 23 years as dock worker.  It's an anniversary I easily overlook.  A month later,  on labor day, September 2, 2002, Consolidated Freightways declared bankruptcy.

Even though TMD had included Sakon Nakhon in it's warning  yesterday, the warning seemed overblown. Heavy rain lasted for about an hour locally. A provincial weather alert issued earlier yesterday seems exaggerated, possibly because of the recent severe flooding and the province ill preparedness.   Those folk in Hong Kong have just enough time for clean-up till the next storm arrives. With yesterday's win Sakon Nakhon FC has advanced to 5th place again. Considering the challenges ahead, it's doubtful that the team will advance much further.  On the other hand Sakon FC has been full of surprises. Sat 26 Aug 4:30 pm Chaiyaphum Sakon . . Chaiyaphum is second in the league with 60 points  .  A Sakon Nakhon home game in April ended in a draw. A Game at Chaiyaphum in June ended in a 2-0 loss for Sakon Nakhon. Sisaket is top in the league with 63 points. Both previous games ended in a defeat for sakon Nakhon 0-1 and 0-3. Loei City is  10th in the league with 30 points.  Sakon Nakhon won both previous games 2-1 and 2-0 Buriram B is fourth in the league with 45 Points. Sakon FC won the game at Buriram 2-1, but lost a home game 0-1.
