190430 time to replace the plastic with something more durable

It was about 2008 when I raised the front wall and put up a plastic roof over the front porch.
It was a privacy issue since they had built a 16 unit apartment building across the street in the previous year.  

Late last year the roof sprung a few minor leaks.
It was time to replace the plastic with something more durable

190429 Toward the end of the game temperatures dropped scores rose quickly

Temperatures felt like over 45 C (Over 113 F). I was feeling quite uncomfortable and questioned myself why I am out here for a football game in this heat.  

Players had a 'heat time out' once in the first and again in the second half. 
One time out was needed for the referee who needed a few moments to regain his composure.

Sakon players started off aggressive and a few players received yellow cards. After a Sakon player received a second yellow and subsequently a red card Udon had the upper hand and added three scores in rapid succession. Fourth goal at 3:03, fifth goal at 3:05, sixth goal at 3:08.

The most impressive performance of the day was by Udon player number nine

Midway though the second half dark clouds in the distance quickly dropped the thermometer down to quite cool temperatures

Kham Hom Waterfall : Phu Phan National Park

The waterfalls frequently run dry during drought seasons especially. On weekdays and holidays it's an inexpensive place for family day trips. There are a few food vendors. I had jumbo shrimp with my Chang.

Parking was being directed by gentlemen in uniform

Trash receptacles are available in areas where food and drink are allowed.

Most of the pools are shallow, ideal for smaller children

A more serene atmosphere during school and work weeks. Flip flops are not ideally suited if you decide to walk the waterfall trail

Temperatures reached 43.3 C yesterday, but not as hot on the previous day.
No rain near my house, dark clouds and thunder nearby brought temperatures to a pleasant 27 C by late afternoon

High temperature today my reach 35 to 37 C, add to that the feels like factors will put it over 40 C.
Scattered Thunderstorms are in the forecast through the morning and early afternoon. Forecasters seem to be unanimous in declaring that the rain will stop by game time.

190423 The Old Theater turned Fertilizer Warehouse Epilogue

There's a 2018 view at GOOGLE Maps

To me the scary part is this was a chemical fire. Much of the water used to extinguish this fire gets washed down the street drains and winds up at the nearby  Lake  (Nong Han). The lake is the city's water source.

I've been to similar such warehouses (fertilizer) within the city, no fire extinguisher in sight. Hazardous product  warehouses should be properly equipped such as sprinkler systems and chemical containment

Thunder could be heard in the distance at 4 am.  It was about evening news time (5:30AM BKK time), when the rain started. 6:30 am electric service halted.
I have battery operated WIFI (AIS pocket WIFI) and my laptop is good for up to six hours. A USB fan and a gas stove to keep the coffee hot.
7:13 Electric service restored.

Comparatively it was a short power outage.  If your are 'battery ready,' you might want to download a few movies

Apparent Limited Attendance

Did not attend the Tha Rae Easter Parade as temperatures hovered over 110F for most of the afternoon. Also Have a bit of a sore throat with painful swallowing.  
A few of my friends made it to the hospital with heat related health problems.  I'll remain indoors or in the pool through most of next week.

Sakon Nakhon FC had a bad season last year and from recent performances 2019 is not looking much better.

The team rankings are off kilter as some teams have played 8 games, other teams only played 6 or 7 games.  It's due to a poorly designed season schedule.  Three games are scheduled today.

Most likely Sakon FC should be second from the bottom of this list .

190418 Movie Theater turned Fertilizer Warehouse fire under investigation

It was the last of the original movie theaters in Sakon Nakhon, most likely built in the 1960's according to a 2009 blog entry by  "The Southeast Asia Movie Theater Project."   The theater had not been used to show movies in at least the past two decades.

It had recently been used as a fertilizer warehouse
