2024 - 2025 REVO League Season ends Sunday, April 27 and Wednesday, April 30

Also known as Thai League 1 and T1, the league has 16 teams. Buriram United in first place with 67 points could be toppled during the final games by Bangkok United which has 66 points.
It's possible, but unlikely.
A few of the games may turn out in very lopsided scores.

No Thai League Representation in Sakon Nakhon Province

The question pops up occasionally.

Sakon Nakhon FC was relegated to amateur status in mid 2023.  A decision was made to not pursue the team any further, most likely due to financial restraints.

A local team would have to start at amateur status for the first year in hopes of advancing the following year.  The financial requirements, even for an amateur league are phenomenal.

I attended Sakon FC games since its inception in 2005, in fact had the privilege to be team photographer for two seasons.  What I miss most is the travel to attend away games

Football, known in the US as soccer is alive in local teams and events.  Until recently I sponsored local football for over a decade.  Gave me a purpose to participate in the local community.
There are a number of football fields throughout the area.  The most popular these days is WEHUG.  Counted five football fields within the city. Most villages have their own fields

2023 "Sirindhorn Cup" Finals

The Municipal stadium is one kilometer from my home, roughly 2/3 mile. I attended three matches this year, one of which was the final.
The final included a lot of pomp and circumstances.

Quite obvious to me was that I spend less time photographing the football action and most of my time photographing the spectators and participants.

My favorite part to these events is the halftime entertainment

200222 I have to ease off on the celebrations. Takes too long to recover

Been recovering from a slight case of bronchitis. Chilly nights in a t-shirt did not help.
Been quite windy especially in the evenings.

Weather
This coming week expect temperatures to rise.
Last day of February expect feels like high 38 and low 21.
The 'real' and 'feels like' temperatures will be parting company: humidity rising.
Been attending local city games and sponsoring a very talented team.

Winning the first two games

Third game was the most challenging so far 0 - 0. A few days rest, then the next game Monday

When these games end, its on to another tournament in Tha Rae.

Carpet Football a growing Industry

Football is a social event with no financial boundaries.
Both rich and less wealthy enjoy and spectate and participate.

A very obvious pattern of creating a football competition.

  • You can rent or own the sport facility
  • You announce an entry fee and rewards
  • Schedule events, concession and maintenance
The most common local sponsors are government agencies, schools and social clubs

What I call carpet football is slowly expanding as commercial ventures. I've been to three local privately owned stadiums, seen a couple more, but don't remember where
  1. Sanfun Soccer Stadium
  2. The Areais
  3. Green Field
I've sponsored teams for a number of years. It usually involves an entry fee (generally 3,000 to 4,500 baht), Team shirts (average cost) 100 baht each, and water or soft drinks during games.  Let's not forget parties after each win. I always get the player number depicting my age.

The  next competition starts this saturday.  Our team is scheduled at 4 pm. The games have to be less than an hour each according to this tight schedule.  I think start time may be later than scheduled

Mister hans united

I've sponsored a number of football teams over the years.
The difference this time, it's almost in my backyard.
Looking over my back fence
