Just was alerted to a Sakon Nakhon teaching job advertisement at craigslist. The job offer may be quite legitimate, it may be just poor wording, but a few red flags went up when I read: "Please send reply with resume and passport scan and passport size picture." I would never send a copy of my passport through e-mail, especially to an unknown address.

Potty News

In June of this year Thailand announced plans to scrap squat toilets in public facilities and replace them with western-style, sit down toilets. More recently, about amonth ago, local officials followed suit.  Posing next to new toilets officials cited the need to assist a growing elderly population.     More recently, Wat Phra That Choeng Chum in Sakhon Nakhon made Potty News news at RTY9, simply entitled "The toilet." Had to do a bit of reading between the lines to understand the GOOGLE TRANSLATE version of the article: Dr. Jessada lucky as my Lord. Department of Health and toilet chair legs dangling to the elderly and disabled to reduce the risk of osteoarthritis. Wat Phra That Choeng Chum in Sakhon Nakhon recently ... Amen ... It will be interesting to see if and when portable toilets are replaced at fairs.  Confined in extremely small stalls, no handles to grab, they can be real back breakers.  I needed medical attention after wrenching my spine in one of those

One win, one loss for Sakon Nakhon in the Phu Phan Cup

Sakon lost it's first game against Udon 0-2, but had an astounding recovery during it's second game against Sisaket.  What became obvious from the start was these are not the teams which play in the  Thai Division 2 League North Eastern Region. Of all the players I only recognized one.  Quite noticeably the uniform colors were different. Further evidence that these are not the Northeastern  League teams was the performance by Sisaket.    I couldn't stay for the entire game due to digestive discomforts and had to make a mad dash home. As I left Sakon Nakhon made it's fifth goal, while Sisaket was scoreless. The Sisaket league team finished in second place during the regular league season.

Rain Maybe

Red square on the image is the approximate location of Sakon Nakhon. Weather is moving from the south.  Possible chance of rain locally.   Thai Meteorological Department forecasts only a 10% chance of rain in Sakon Nakhon.  A weather warning by the Thai Meteorological Department indicates "...rain is expected in the lower Northeast, 15-18 November..."  A system approaching from the north may cause a cool and windy day or two this weekend.   Daytime 'Feels Like' temperatures by midweek expected to climb to the low 40's
