Asarnha Bucha / Wan Khao Phansa / Start Buddhist Lent (July 22-23)

OH CRAP!!

I had just recovered from dengue fever. I had not regained normal health and my immune system was still weak.

Today is the fourth day of severe diarrhea, including a few laundry 'accidents.'

After the second day I began using antibiotics to no avail.

Today I have switched to anti viral medicine.
Immediate relief, I can drink without puking. I've even had a bowl of rice soup without the urge to run to the throne room.

Will go to the hospital later today, since a hydration iv is probably a good idea at this point.

Kalasin FC

  award winning Friendlies

UFO Sighting at Kalasin

Oh never mind it's a football

The there I fixed it award goes to Kalasin

In my travels to 'North Eastern Region' football games, this was the first fully functional electronic scoreboard, including correct time

An early Score, seven minutes into the game, by Kalsin FC set the momentum for the remainder of the game

Blind Symbol

And the blind armband award goes to

Early in the game the Kalasin goalkeeper let the ball inadvertently roll into his own goal. The incident was ignored by referees, when it should have obviously been a score.

At times the game was fast paced with hot action. Sakon FC had seven near misses, but walked away scoreless.

Kalasin Friendlies

My opinion about the day in Kalasin
Kalasin           2
Sakon Nakhon 0

Gues what broke down on the way to Kalasin

Slash-and-burn

English as a second language

Dead for half a month before discovery

German Businessman Found Dead In Udon Thani Flat

I had to be reminded that I knew Frank.  We had met and attended football games in Udon.
After the game we discussed 'life' over a pizza and beer.

Police believe it was robbery and murder,

In another incident I recently heard about a burglary while no one was at home.
The safety box with valuables were the main target.

There's a safety lesson here:
Both incidents are reminders that certain precautions and awareness or your surroundings are essential at all times.

Gone shopping at Robinsons

Sakon Nakhon City Gate
The main Highway leading away from the city gate has clearly marked Entrances and Exits.

The signs should probably be renamed to "Whatever."

Drivers are leaving the road through the entrance and entering through the exits.

Thailand traffic rules: WHATEVER works for you.

Expected a big crowd at Robinsons.  The parking lot was quite full.
It was one pm.  There was a steady stream of uniformed students heading for the main doors of the mall.  You know they didn't come to do shopping.  They were there to enjoy the airconditioned comfort of the mall.

In fact the only people I saw with shopping bags were the foreigners with their wives (Ahem spotted a few pretend wives ).

Did some shopping at Robinsons.  Somewhat felt right at home.
If I venture on my neighborhood streets I frequently have to ward off packs of dogs.
No difference at Robinsons, except here it's groups of salesclerks you have to scurry away.

Did purchase a few items at Robinsons.  For each item rung up, a different salesclerk scanned his/her ID number.  Bought seven items, seven sales clerks received sales credit.

Considered buying some underwear.  400 baht for a white t-shirt seemed a bit too pricey.
Then I looked at some briefs.  The young lady in charge of the briefs was hungry for a sale.
She repeatedly followed me to show me another pair of briefs.
After being followed and shown half a dozen briefs, I abandoned the clothing department in a hurry.  Things just got a bit too KINKY.

Had to switch from basket to cart at Top's, my purchases there piled up quickly.
If you plan on shopping there with some frequency, I recommend getting a store card.  I received a 300 baht refund and a free laundry basket.

I'll be eating Brussel sprouts for the first time in ten years.
