Tourists using their sim card from their home country, in many cases will be shocked upon their return home. Such roaming charges are enormous in most cases.

A Thai SIM card can be purchased for under 300 baht US$10

Extended stay foreigners may have registered their phones a few years ago when the SIM card laws were first announced. If you are unsure, check with your network provider.

Paragon bombs 'homemade' Bangkok Post
Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Explosions at Siam Paragon Mall on February 1, 2015 At approximately 8:10 pm on the evening of February 1, 2015, Thai authorities reported that two small improvised explosive devices detonated in close proximity to the Siam Paragon Shopping Mall BTS entrance. Security personnel responded immediately to the scene to secure the area and began investigating the incident. This investigation remains ongoing.
