I wonder if there will be a live stream ??
It's a bit of a reduced T4 Northeast football season. Twentyfour games compared to 26 games in 2018 and 33 games in 2017. Many teams formerly in the league have been propelled to the upper T leagues.
After the U15 game yesterday, I stuck around long enough to see who some of this season's Sakon Nakhon FC players are. A few faces from past seasons and some new faces.

Saw some video of a staff and team dinner on facebook apparently a player introduction. Obviously the team needs to improve promoting the team, need an advertising exec.
Had briefly considered a trip to Loei, but decided against that. If Sakon wins it's first away game it would definitely increase the number of fans during the first home game

Gloomy outlook
Hearing from some business people that business is down. It seems hard to believe with all this hype that tourism is doing great. Probably much related to the strong baht. Chinese New Year may not be so profitable, as most will go home to visit family.
A recent survey (Thai Visa) seems to indicate that a large part of the expat community is contemplating departure due to the new visa rules. The new rules may not be set in stone and may be subject to further 'adjustments.' A large exodus is probably not imminent, as embassy income statements where issued until the last days of December and are valid for six months.
Fifteen years ago, or so, a copy of the income statement was acceptable and could be reused the following year. Think that went on for three consecutive years.
Been over a year since I stopped smoking. Local cigarette prices are nearly tripling effective in October to US$3 a pack. Apparently it's a tax increase, no mention if that tax also applies to imported cigarettes. More smokers may switch to roll your own as tobacco can be bought in ounces and kilos.

Unfortunately a Sakon Nakhon U19 win has still not materialized.
I've been in Thailand long enough not to get upset and just go with the flow.
I arrived at 3 pm thinking I was early. Opening ceremony had ended as I arrived.
Very obvious staff changes for the U19 team. Most likely because the head coach and staff need to concentrate on the T4 season which starts next weekend.
It was a well played game, unfortunately a Sakon Nakhon U19 win has still not materialized.

The animation does not indicate the size of these fires, but I seriously doubt that they include backyard BBQS.
Hope the local air quality index will improve over the present findings.
Not much weather activity high up there according to the Google Earth weather feature.
Next 7 days: Feels like highs 36 to 37 C, overnight lows 20 to 22 C

Visa Jitters diminished
Just renewed my yearly visa and starting my 17th year in Sakon Nakhon. The process was a bit slower than usual. All officers had to step out for a photo opportunity which lasted a "Thai five minutes."
The greatest delay was caused by multiple clerks processing with only one set of rubber stamps. The fact that I'm not 100% recovered from bronchitis did not help my mood.
I do the monthly income method with no difficulty. Even though all this recent visa news does not concern me, it's still unnerving, waiting till the other shoe drops:
The recent financial requirement announcements most likely will be further modified since they are no cure for the money lender problems they are supposed to fix. The requirement has been enacted, but a procedure has not been clarified.
One source indicates the bankbook can not be in the name of the spouse, another source indicates joint accounts are acceptable
