Extended Wax Castle Festival announced

City Officials posted Friday
on   facebook that 2022's

In past years the event was   generally four to five days

The main Parade is scheduled on 9 October.
Final day, a full moon day, is generally a temple attendance day.
No mention yet of any boat races which generally take place in conjunction of the wax castle festival.

Many events happen with 'little' or no announcement

Tourism Authority of Thailand should have an events calendar for each province with a minimum of thirty days advance notice, promoting every public event.

Unfortunately we only find out about many events from after action posts, such as this video.

Three Days Notice: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Sakon Nakhon Wax Candle Parade: . . . . July 13, 2 p.m.

One of Thailand's Tourism shortcoming is insufficient notice of public events.

Found reference to this event on facebook for the first time on July 10.

That may well be sufficient time for locals to visit the event.

Foreigners need more time to plan.

Google Map is a lot more than just a map

Have been using Google Map for some years with great success.
Before I travel I use the map to find restaurants, hotels, tourist attractions, and a lot more.
In the case of hotels the map displays advertised prices.

Even at home the map has many great uses, as in this example of finding a dentist.  Of course you can search for an assortment of venues from restaurants to grocery stores, and more.

I often plot my travels on my computer and send the route information to my mobile phone

Tourism comeback prediction

Everyone is expecting miracles.

Used to be buses arrived in packs. That way you only had to herd one large group through the temple grounds instead of many smaller groups.
Many of the tour buses hauled domestic travelers.  Most international tour groups were Asian. Don't recollect groups of western tourists on tour buses

It's been twenty years since I checked in on a tour bus group, the majority were Korean.
I'll not forget this group till the end of my days.
All were invited to purchase eggs.  They were then cracked in various ways and the person's fortunes where then predicted by a someone who knew how to read the cracked eggs and explain to the believer.

I've never found cause to make up a story.  I have enough real life experiences.

I did spend some years in the tourism industry, worked as a bellman, maître d, party planner and even busboy in hotels and country clubs.

Saturday Motorcycle Road Trip

Google maps sent me way off course through some dusty back roads. Could have been due to a WIFI disruption. Road construction (widening) on the way to Na Kae.  Soon to be another four lane highway

There had been a Facebook post about temple construction in

Khok Si Suphan, which for unknown reasons was removed.

Public access to the site seems to be closed.  I spotted the workers entrance and spent a few minutes inside the complex for some pictures.  There seems to be a workers camp adjacent to the complex, makes me believe the site should be up and running later this year

Sakon Nakhon 65 Red Cross Fair | February 25 – March 3, 2022

video by: sakonnakhoncity
Best time to buy pricier items is at the end of the fair. Years ago: I went there on the morning day after the fair, got a huge discount on curtains, saved the vendor from having to repack them.

Used to love the fair when they had bumper cars, beer was allowed with a meal, and the military provided a target range
