Kham Hom Waterfall

The first thing quite obvious as you leave SakonNakhon on highway 213, heading towards Phu Phan, is the temperature.

As soon as you make your way up the winding mountain highway, it's pleasantly cooler.

The Kham Hom Waterfall is only about a twenty minute drive from the city.  It's a seasonal waterfall and only becomes active during and after the rainy season.

Even during the dry season it's worth a visit if you enjoy going for a walk along the nature trails.

Of course it's a lot more fun after the rainy season

Nature provides Europeans an excuse for extended vacations

Travelers planning return trips to Europe:
The New York Times supplies an updated list of airports affected by a cloud of ash from an erupting volcano in Iceland.

An Animated map of the spreading of  ash can be found  at
Denmark's Aarhus University

The volcano, which spewed up to eight miles into the atmosphere during earlier blasts, is now spewing ash up to three miles high.

At present there is no indication when air transportation will return to normal.
17,000 flights have been canceled to date, affecting an estimated 8 million people.
The volcano last erupted 1821 and was active for nearly two years.

Free Poolwater Season has arrived

My water tanks were running precariously on empty and I was tempted to fill them through city water, during the recent extremely hot spell.

Mother nature was quite obliging and kept the hot weather going through the Songkran festivities.

On the last day of celebrations things began to cool down quite noticeably in the evening.
No need for the air conditioning, in fact my fan was running on low speed.  That was two days ago.
Mother Nature let it be known today that the hot season is over and the rainy season is under way.

I had to grab the ladder and clean out some gutters.
That took care of my morning shower.

When the rain stops, frogs and toads gather for choir practice.  Actually they are just calling all snakes to let them know where meals are being served.
