Five dead, 53 hurt in Thailand bus cliff plunge - GulfNews.com

A bus traveling from Udon to Chiang Mai crashed a few days ago.
I'm always quite uneasy on Thai buses, especially when mountainous terrain is involved.
What got my interest in reading about the accident is that the driver noted something was wrong.
He stopped and attempted to make repairs.  Right about then I would have gotten off and started walking, especially since the brakes were 'smoking.'

Most of the times you read  of Thai bus accidents there are hills involved.

Red Head Season in Thailand

Attended a YFC morning game.
Appreciated the 9 am starting time, long before temperatures exceeded my comfort zone.
Victory party at my house. Twenty Pizza boats disappeared in under ten minutes. An hour later a second meal was devoured.

Sakon Nakhon warming

High temperatures are responsible in a surge of sales of fans and air conditioners especially in the Sakon Nakhon area according to media reports.

In a Bangkok Post article, Sakon Nakhon Province is identified as one of two Thai provinces "...that are expected to experience the most extreme variations in temperature and rainfall..." due to global warming, "...resulting in changes in food production."

We could be in for a humdinger* rainy season when it does arrive

* humdinger: extraordinary

Thai Fruit A Dietary Wonder?

Wikimedia Commons image
GARCINIA CAMBOGIA is the latest craze in diets.
More commonly known as Mangosteen.

The peel seems to be of more nutritional value than the fruit.

Some claims made are that the peel has antioxidant properties, reduces c-reactive protein in the blood (cause of inflammation), and fights melanoma.

I'm always skeptical when I hear "Loose weight without exercise."
Anti inflammation claims interest me though

Warm enough for a waterfight

Recent temperatures in the low forties (104+ F) did not seem too extreme to some of us, mainly because there was no humidity.
Most of the weather system passed by well south of us with clouds and a cool day locally. Temperatures remain mostly in the mid thirties , increased humidity will make it feel like mid forties

Scattered thundershowers and cloudy at times is in the forecast.
If you don't experience any showers, expect the humidity to make up for the lack of rain
