Lost in translation: Phone disconnect

To discontinue service by a person other than listed on the phone bill,
you must present six paid receipts to prove you are the owner of the phone.
Asking for telephone installation ten years ago in Thailand, I was informed there is a six month backlog (waiting period).
I mentioned my dilemma at school. A phone call was made and by the time I arrived at home, the installers were waiting in front of my house.

The phone was not in my name, I didn't care as long as I had a phone.

Recently I decided I no longer had use for the phone.
Only the person, whose name appears on the phone bill can request disconnection.
I've lost contact with that person many years ago.

I asked to have the phone disconnected.
I received a preprinted letter thanking me for the business and indicating that the service was disconnected.

I discarded years of receipts.

Even though the line had been disabled, recently I received a bill for a number of months of unpaid service.

To discontinue service by a person other than listed on the phone bill, you must present six paid receipts to prove you are the owner of the phone.

Paying the unpaid months, I now have to pay another future bill to accumulate six receipts.
My phone will be switched from disabled to disconnected

Hoping for a better season next year. It can be done. The Ubon team had been consistently in last place or nearby for years. They ended this season in third place

Vietnam farmers face fight as rice exports drop The China Post
In a number of Asian countries, in recent years, many tracts of land where cleared for rice growing.
More countries joined the rice export market.
Farmers who want to survive should really consider an alternate money making crop.
Olives and avocados come to my mind. Imported avocados go for 60 baht (US$2) EACH.
Avocado trees do quite well in this climate. Want to see mine?

Rubber farmers are also facing an oversupply situation for similar reason:  many tracts of land where cleared and turned into rubber farms, more countries joined the rubber export market

Sakon FC was formed in 2005. Still searching for the first two years statistics
By my calculations 2010 was the ยอดดี best year for Sakon Nakhon FC

That year we had เชียร์ cheer ทีม teams and ธง flags

We had a half time show อีเกิ้ล ให้ดู

We had wins ชัยชนะ

Football Season ends Sunday

Sakon FC will host Surin FC in the final game of the season at 4 pm Sunday.
Win or loose, there will be a season end party at the football restaurant (near MJ Hotel) after the game.

Surin FC is in 6th place in the league while Sakon FC is eleventh.
When the teams last met, Feb 2013, they departed with a 0-0 draw.
A previous game August 2012  Sakon FC triumphs over Surin FC 2-1

In North Eastern Region football, as it stand now, Amnat Charoen will not have a team next season due to lack of funds. With the next season five months in the future, that may change.

Rainy Season is Back

Heavy rain storms yesterday morning arrived with a mini tornado as a precursor.

Unsubstantiated (heard it from a friend)
"Strong winds caused fallen displays at some EXPO shops. One person needed hospital treatments for cuts suffered from falling objects."
In other parts of town store awnings were ripped from buildings by high winds

According to Thai Meteorology Department we had 103.5 mm (4") rain during the early morning hours

During the heavy rains many streets were flooded, some impassible.

By 11:30 canals had recovered, most city streets were passable.
