Little respite from the heat

Another hot week ahead.  Temperatures in the upper thirties until Saturday.
Expect Tuesday to be the hottest day of the week reaching 38 (100F), with a feels like temperature at around 45 (113F).
Even though temperatures are expected to drop slightly next week (32), the lower temperature will hardly be noticeable, as it will still feel like in the mid 40's.

This week at the Roadhouse

This Thursday, June 4,
The Road House will be featuring the now famous thick cut, barbecued and cooked to order, strip loins. French Thai, Bobs Killer Potato Salad, creamed corn, and dinner roll. Rock on.

There will be no kitchen Tuesday or Wednesday this week since Pu is having a Tambun celebration for her mother who passed away 6 years ago.
Everyone who knows Pu is welcome to stop down at her house if they so wish.

T.i.T. And another one bites the...

For those who have not followed the story a quick recap:

On June 3 a roadcrew ripped open a road leading to my house to lay sewer lines down the center of the road.  Somehow I sensed there was trouble ahead.

The crew left open pits in the road and marked them with twigs.  The following day after some heavy rains, the first vehicle slipped into the hole.

Of course the following day another vehicle slipped into the same hole

After the second vehicle I placed some large timbers into the hole to make it visible.
Today they removed the timbers and filled the hole with dirt.  The hole was no longer visible.  But the dirt had not been compacted.
This time a truck weighed down with melons sank into the hole.  After attempts to use a jack to lift the vehicle out, there was only one solution.
Unload all the melons.

Two hours later and the vehicle is still in the hole.
Anywhere else the road crew would be liable for damage for not properly marking a construction area. But then T.i.T.

With the help of emergency road services and proper tools the vehicle was driven out of the hole almost three hours later.  Melons were reloaded during a moderate rain storm

Cowboy Jim celebrates his birthday at the Roadhouse

Larry Nelson

For my Thailand friends,
this coming Thursday,  February 12th
we will have a birthday  gathering for "Cowboy" James Wilkins at Larry's  Road House, starting at 12 noon and continue  throughout the day.

Jim wants to give everyone who  mentions his birthday a 200 baht credit for drinks.  Kind of like the same thing Hans did for his birthday.

Remember, YOU MUST MENTION COWBOY  JIM'S BIRTHDAY in order to receive the 200 baht credit.

Farewell Party at the Roadhouse (Date correction)

For my Thailand friends, on March February 27th we will be hosting a going away party for Jackie Ferguson, our dear friend at Larrys Road House, who also happens to be the mother of the rather infamous Jon Nisbet. lol We will be BBQing thick cut Strip Loins, and I mean thick cut, along with baked potato, veggies, and dinner roll.

This gathering will commence at 2PM so please come and say good bye to a great lady. An RSVP would be nice so I will know how many steaks to buy.

Rainy Season to arrive end of May

National News Bureau of Thailand
Meteorological Department- Thailand will enter the rainy season by the end of May

The recent plentiful rains we've experienced have been coming from the north (China), not normally associated with the rainy season.

Weather patterns are beginning change

Temperatures should begin to drop somewhat after midweek,

from the upper 30's to the lower 30'.  Same for the  feels like temperatures  from the upper 40's to the lower 40s.
Currently we are seeing a phenomenon quite common to  this area.
I call it the doughnut-hole effect.  Possibly a result of the Phu Phan mountains

The rainy season generally peaks mid July with storms coming from the east. Buddhist Lent also known as rains retreat begins July 12.  It's time for study and meditation.
Contrary to rumours, monks are not restricted to temple grounds during this period, and can be seen in the general public.

Do I need a reminder at a Football Game

Soccer Jersey worn by Thai Teen

At first I thought it to be real INAPPROPRIATE (ไม่เหมาะสม)
because it made me think of things like this

On second thought that's old generation morality.
Durex is sponsoring teen football in Thailand, very appropriate.  It will make some people blush
