The rainy season is gone, it's time to pack up the frowns and "BE HAPPY!"

Gloomy weather (rain and clouds) affect our personalities, we've all experienced it to some degree.  Hot weather tends to make me somewhat lethargic (sluggish). I'm quite content though.  Spent the morning at the hospital mental health clinic.

I am in the fifth week of taking Quomem.  According to the brochure it takes six to seven weeks till they become effective and I stop smoking.

One of the side effects has been insomnia.  I'm only getting four hours of sleep per day and that's causing other health problems.

This evening I will start taking medication which should let me sleep for a longer period.  The side effect of this medication may cause drowsiness even during my waking hours.  So I may not be driving anywhere for a few days.

Somebody in the information office is really on the ball.  Used to be you'd be lucky you'd hear of an event taking place a day or so before the event took place.  That seems to have changed. Phu Phan Cup schedule was announced a month in advance. 18 - 28 December The 2018 Red Cross Fair received two month advance notice January 12 -21 Christmas Starlight parade December 20-24  Not yet announced are the dates for the customary Temple Fair held in early January

Except for 2008 I've attended at least one or two matches of the Phu Phan Cup since 2005. The games generally take place in November with the exception of 2016 when the trophy match Phu Phan Cup game was held December 29. Rivals in the games are from provinces in the isaan region of Thailand.  Rumors have it there's a friendly wager amongst governors.  Think one year it was a bottle of ... ? My favorite cup moments are the opening ceremony, the final halftime show, and the closing ceremonies.

Wedding

I divided the day attending a wedding celebration at three different times in order not to exert myself.   Traffic had been diverted the previous day. I attended the monks ceremonies in the morning, till my body told me I needed some rest. A shorter visit midafternoon as the heat got me me quite quickly. By evening the main road had been reduced to one lane, a complete kitchen on site

US Veterans day 11 November 2017

Originally designated as Armistice Day at the end of WW1, celebrated on the 11th day, on the 11 month, with a two minute silence at the 11th hour.

In the US Congress amended a bill on June 1, 1954, replacing "Armistice" with "Veterans Day."

In the UK two separate events are celebrated on that day. Remembrance Day is a memorial to all fallen soldiers, while Armistice day celebrates the end of WW1.

My Own Experience  Crossed into Mexico from San Diego for a day trip, ate at a wallmart. Did a bit of tourist area window shopping and returned to the US, having spent little. Frequently visited Vancouver, Canada from Washington State on four day weekends. Spent quite a bit more on lodging, drinking and dining, entertainment. Kritters of all kinds,  pets, farm animals ... are warming themselves in the warm sun on cement pavement.  Cement absorbs the heat from the sun.   Dogs in the streets is quite common anywhere in Thailand.  These days they are lying on the warm pavement, expecting drivers to 'go around.'  Animals in the streets become a traffic problem mostly in rural areas.  Not always.
