Air Mail to the US 7 to 16 days - - - Fax machines take a holiday

Airmail service to the U.S.A. from previous experience is generally seven to ten days.
This time Airmail service took 16 days.
I had to attend to the matter with a fax. Tried sending a fax from three local hotels and 3 fax services.  None of them got through.
Answers were: "Holiday!!" "Try after the holidays!!"
I honestly believe the reasons they were unable to send the fax was that
  •  their phones had an overseas call restriction, or
  • each phone provider has a different exit number to reach the overseas operator
  • Ais, 005
  • (Cat ), 001
  • (TOT ), 007
  • (TAC), 004
  • (TrueMove) 006
I called the fax number with my mobile, I got the fax receiving tone. I wonder if I can hook my fax machine to my mobile phone?

The letter has arrived, the matter has been attended to.
Panic over -  Disaster averted

Typical in Thailand

Just found out on facebook that Tha Rae is celebrating it's 130th anniversary today.
Unfortunately it's too late to make plans. This should have been noted by Thai Tourism offices some time ago.
It's very typical for Thailand.
Even for last night's party I had six hours notice, lucky I had no plans.
I stayed for two hours, then I had enough. But I understand the loud music continued hours past midnight.
There is not much you can do about such events.  Permits for loud music, good till 2 am, are cheap.
Last time I had such a permit it cost me 50 baht. My music ended at 10 pm

Thailand Tourist Rules for Foreigners

Much ado in the media complaining about Chinese tourists behavior.
Women washing their feet in a basin.  There was a sign in English prohibiting the practice, with a warning of a 1,000 baht fine.

It's doubtful that the majority of Chinese tourists read English.

Thailand wants tourists from all over the world to come and experience Thailand.

To accommodate all languages picture signs should be used, similar as to the picture educating Thais on the proper use of a western toilet

Unfortunately Thais tend to make up new rules as they go along.  I hung all my wet clothes including underwear outside a major hotel window on ropes intended for flags.  Songkran 2000. That evening everyone had followed suit.  The hotel front looked like a laundry facility, bras, bikinis, and other unmentionables included.  No complaints.

Drying your unmentionables in the open at the airport in the airport lounge may be a bit tacky, but not a reason for a national uproar.

And OH YES:  Don't wear just white during songkran.  When wet it becomes see through.

As for kicking bells with your feet, when I visited there many moons ago, there was a sign, "Do not ring the bells, they are fragile."

Happy Hour permanently cancelled

Bar and restaurant owners scratch off all those beer logos from your beer mugs and glasses.
Won't have to do that to Chang or Singha glasses, as they do not specify beer, they also sell water

Advertisements and promotions of Happy Hour

banned in Thailand

It's not April 1, so it can't be an April fools joke.  Some of the laws listed seem quite reasonable, while others just seem far fetched.
I seriously question "is this real?"
Neither the Nation nor the Bangkok Post, nor any other news service make mention of this story at this time

T.i.T. Amazing Video

Obviously it's not anywhere near Sakon Nakhon.  I recognized "the bridge'
The second scene is a bit lengthy watching the back of peoples heads.
After that it becomes an amazing adventure beautifully put together.   ****
