Neighborhood flooding likely with next rain.

Took a shortcut to do some shopping. Grazing fields surrounded by residential development are flooded to street level. Have never seen these fields flooded. I somewhat suspect that drainage has been blocked and slowed by new construction. Still trying to figure out what's  being built south of Big-C and Expo. Long cement pad, another pad with seven corners and other strange patters. Nothing yet in the center of the property. Makes me wonder if the night market is being moved there?   The return Trip

More stormy weather ahead ??       Head for the high ground !! Had plenty of warnings that some nasty weather was heading this way.I've never experienced a massive ant invasion from all directions, as I have in past weeks.They were leaving the open fields for higher grounds.  It's as if they have a built in long range weather alert system. Sure enough; those dry fields on the other side of my fence, where cows grazed just days ago, are now ponds.    The water levels resemble that of the rainy season July through September.  With plenty of rainfall ahead of us, I'm evicting the spiders, bugs and frogs from my wading boots.I may need them this year. After this morning's 1am to 6 am storm, my neighbors have decided on some preemptive pruning Other Neighbors seem to be oblivious to the pending damage

More on the recent "Stormy Weather" Apparently the high winds caused considerable damage within the province. Thai TV news broadcast images of fallen trees, collapsed houses and missing roofs.

About me My first job I ever had:  Story teller! 1950, I was 6 going on 7, and living in a Catholic Boys Orphanage. Not that I am an orphan, I was there under the single parent program. Three dormitory bedrooms segregated the boys: Under 5 years of age,  pre-puberty, and puberty. I was nightly designated bed time story teller to the youngest group Making up stories became a practiced talent. Many years later 1976 I attended College. My English teacher suggested I become a reporter for the college newspaper. Within six months I became editor and held the job for nearly three years in a 2 year college. As a result of  that experience I have acquired a lifelong interest in pursuing facts, unfortunately, the experience dulled my fiction capabilities.

Sakon Nakhon Stormy Weather

No weather warnings preceded yesterday's storm, but it did create some major havoc. Electricity was down and out for over 2 1/2 hours. Nearby trees were felled by gusts I estimated  up to 50 mph (80 kph). Mother nature presented her version of the 1812. One extra loud explosion, a direct hit on my satellite dish. Or should I say a direct hit on my wallet? In total darkness I was entertained by my fully charged laptop. The parent tried to rescue her hatchling all morning without success. One  it's legs seems to be crippled.

What did you expect? Place a pillow next to caged squirrel, and you create hours of entertainment

Sakon City Songkran to the classics

It's obvious:    There's a construction boom underway in Sakon City. Within minutes in any direction from my home, there's construction underway. It's like that all over the city. The construction boom is going on in most of North Eastern Isaan. A decade ago, what today is known as Sakon City, was then a sleepy, slow paced town. Before the arrival of Big C, MACRO, and  Tesco. Changes were gradual at first    I.T.U., a major roadway these days,     was mostly dirt road for many years.    It functioned as a party zone.        Album 040315TheBigParty Internet was available locally at breathtaking modem speeds of 14,400 over local telephone lines. There was a waiting list to get a phone line to your home, unless you had friends with "connections."

sakonnakhon-live calendar discontinued I've deleted links to my calendar. It's simply not a project I can maintain at the moment. Had two hard drives crash on me over a year ago. Recently began a slow recovery process. I've recovered over 2,000 photographs so far, with lots more to go. Can't describe how happy I am seeing these pictures reappear.
