There was an obvious change in the Sakon FC starting lineup. Most obvious: one major player was sitting in the audience. There were a couple other obvious lineup changes. First half action was a bit of a yawner at times. Oh sure there were a couple exciting moments, but nothing that left the crowd roaring.
The Sakon Goalie was replaced due to an injury. The mistake happened when the replacement goalie let himself get drawn too far from his goal and not enough team members rushed to defend the goal. It was one of those goals that you knew it was about to happen, long before it happened. The game next Sunday may well turn into a hometown thriller. Both teams are tied for 7th place in the league with identical wins, draws, losses, and points. Sakon FC held Huai Thalaeng to a draw in an away game. This time it's home field advantage. Let's hope they win this game, cause the following game, Sunday, May 28, at Sisaket is ... Sisaket has not lost a game so far this season. |

Elephant invades Lion territory
Tomorrow, Saturday at 4pm Sakon Nakhon FC hosts Surin City Well! Blow me away. (extremely impressed) That stadium on airport road, I've been naming To this date you are still able to bring your own, or buy beer on the premises. It's not so at many other stadiums in Thailand. The main reason being, some rowdy fans throw bottles and cans at players, and mostly at referees when the game is not going favorably. Some stadiums have tackled the problem by only allowing paper cups in the stadium. Most recently I was at two Buriram stadiums. At the Big one: no drinks in the seating area, they had a drink area and a smoking area. I thought the seats in that stadium where a bit cramped. At the lesser known Buriram B stadium, no drinks in the seating area. I grabbed my beer and watched most of the game outside the open fenced area. I did sit in the opposite seating area which was in desperate need of major repair. Sat there, took some pictures, and drank my beer undisturbed. |

4 to 1.75 odds
I don't bet financially. One betting site I came across favors a Sakon Nakhon win 4 to 1.75. I'm not quite convinced. I'd be happy with a draw. Then again it's possible. Yasothon had their first loss last weekend with Surin. Let's not forget, this may turn out to be Sakon Nakhon FC's best season. Don't recollect being in fourth place, as they are at the moment ![]() |

After the battle head for the showers
Rainy season is approaching. Ants are looking for dry residences. Ant migrations seem to increase dramatically just before the rainy season. The rest of the year they seem to be content with climbing trees, and bushes. This time of the year they seem to be heading toward my house. A few thousand had occupied my outdoor shade roof overnight. They were red ants, they were biters, but their bite was non-venomous. Once the bite was noted, no itching, no scratching, no red spots. There was a few thousand, they had formed half a dozen clusters. First thing I did was use the waterhose to create a puddle of water to stand in. Sprayed baby powder on the clusters. That stuff is deadly to ants. According to recent findings and lawsuits, that stuff isn't healthy for humans either. Those ants out of reach of powder dot some nasty bug spray. Dish soap and water also work quite effectively and are not so detrimental to plants and soil. After the battle is won and casualties are retreating, best thing is head for the showers. Before the rainy season begins in earnest I generally powder the perimeter. I use dish soap in areas my pet visits |

Visakha Bucha day parade or football
There will be a parade tomorrow, as is customary. Start time is around 4 or 5 pm. I generally watch and photograph these parades. This year I'll head out to the assembly area (near provincial headquarters) around 3 pm. By 4 pm I'll be at home hoping and searching for a live stream of Sakon Nakhon FC at Yasothon. I have beer and popcorn on standby. I am really surprised that a football game is even scheduled on this 'holy' day. In case there is no video feed, I can return to the parade route. The parade looks best after dusk with lights and candles. |
