I'm guessing it's a legend: There's a submerged buddha statue and even a shrine out there in Nong Hahn. Reason I have such thoughts: We had a very limited rainy season. Counting the steps, we are almost two steps lower than in January. You have to hope for some spring rains early in the new year
The lower section of the highway, from the highway intersection to the Bus station is municipal property. The old blacktop had been entirely removed and a layer of gravel is being leveled out before pavement is installed
The road beyond the bus station is privately owned and is being covered with a layer of black tar
The first game was supposed to start at 11:30. For Thai time add 'whatever." Took over 300 hundred pictures, edited it down to 200. Mostly out of focus, a few to avoid embarrassment. Our team won again
After 2 games I was in no mood to be doing any cooking. Stopped off at Champions Sports Bar and was very pleased by the Schnitzel
If you've been there and know the condition of the road, then you may wonder if this pickup made it
Sometimes I have to pinch myself and remind myself I am in Thailand
Took this picture ten days ago (6 Nov). Not a parking space along the waterfront road, vendors galore. Did not stop to take a picture today, all the vendors have moved elsewhere. It's nice to enjoy a relaxing waterfront
Moments after the Sakon Football halftime whistle blew an officer appeared to be ready to collapse when two officers came to his aid. The apparently ill officer was foaming from the mouth. He was rushed to a gurney and attended to by medics and rescue personnel. The ambulance was underway in less than three minutes from the moment the officer was assisted off the field
Some schools started last week with a half day introduction schedule. Many officially start today Last night heavy traffic ended a three day festival at the Sakon Nakhon Waterfront
Earlier in the day at Robinson, the Miss Sakon Nakhon contest, part of the Miss Thailand contest
To me the scary part is this was a chemical fire. Much of the water used to extinguish this fire gets washed down the street drains and winds up at the nearby Lake (Nong Han). The lake is the city's water source.
I've been to similar such warehouses (fertilizer) within the city, no fire extinguisher in sight. Hazardous product warehouses should be properly equipped such as sprinkler systems and chemical containment
This Facebook post informs us that the airport now has four parking spaces for aircraft instead of the formerly two spaces.
A Bangkok Post link explains how the AOT takeover of the airport from Department of Airports (DoA) will make improvements with an ultimate goal of raising fees
It was the last of the original movie theaters in Sakon Nakhon, most likely built in the 1960's according to a 2009 blog entry by "The Southeast Asia Movie Theater Project."
The theater had not been used to show movies in at least the past two decades.
It had recently been used as a fertilizer warehouse
